“A Place at the Table” is a powerful documentary about hunger in America that truly paints the picture of what it means to be food insecure in this country – to not always know where your next meal will come from. The film vividly illustrates how lack of income and lack of access to fresh healthy food are the root causes of hunger and its companion, obesity. Here in North Carolina, one in four children in North Carolina is at risk of hunger.

“Hungry for Answers” is a half-hour documentary, hosted and narrated by WRAL News anchor Debra Morgan, that looks at the issue of food insecurity and hunger in North Carolina. It profiles someone who has struggled with the issue, examines some of its causes and explores possible solutions.

Who’s going hungry in North Carolina?

  • 1 in 5 adults
  • 1 in 4 children

As a community, how much longer are we going to tolerate 1 in 4 children not knowing where their next meal is coming from? —a fact that has NOT improved over the past 25 years!  Nurturing long term-solutions to poverty and lack of access to fresh healthy food is the mission at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

Learn about the root causes of hunger and the multiple approaches that Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and its many community partners are deploying— from nutrition education to urban agriculture, Backpack Buddies to Mobile Markets, workforce development to community building.

The theme for Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s  25th year is:

Are you willing to join our journey? To learn, to try new approaches?  To stand up to the status quo and challenge leadership to make policy that supports the empowerment  and self-sufficiency of poor people? Children’s lives depend on us. Can we really afford to wait another 25 years?
