Food Justice Workshop

  • Camden Street Learning Garden 811 East Davie Street Raleigh, NC, 27601 United States (map)

Why are fresh food options abundant in certain areas, but not in others? Why is “fresh”, “locally grown” food marketed as a luxury in a state with abundant agriculture? We will learn together about what food deserts are and how they've come to exist. And, perhaps more importantly, we will learn about ways of building resilience in our communities in order to secure fresh, healthy, local, free/affordable food options for all. The workshop will also include a hands-on food demonstration so that we can learn some great new culinary skills!

Light meal provided. FREE to attend, and open to ALL.

Presented by Hayden Abene, of PowerUp NC, with Food Preparation by Josh Maple, of The Spinning Plate Food Truck
