Agriculture Specialist (Part-time 20 hours per week) - The Agriculture Specialist is responsible for supporting the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s Agriculture Team and programs by facilitating agriculture and education activities at multiple sites, including Food Shuttle Learning Gardens, the Food Shuttle Farm, and community partner sites. These activities include maintaining Food Shuttle Agriculture sites, coordinating and leading volunteer groups and occasional interns, facilitating educational activities such as field trips and workshops, and assisting the Gardens staff with maintaining the Community Gardener program. The Agriculture Specialist will engage with the community directly and collaborate with community partners including public and private organizations to aid in the success of Agriculture programs across multiple sites.

Community Gardens Assistant Manager - The Community Gardens Assistant Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day and seasonal operations of the Food Shuttle’s Learning Gardens in Durham and Wake Counties. They will lead, supervise, and coordinate volunteers to assist in the maintenance of community gardens. The Community Gardens Assistant Manager will play a critical role cultivating relationships with community gardeners, neighbors, volunteers, and community partners and will support Garden staff in planning and implementing community events and agriculture education. Additionally, this position will be responsible for supervising the roles and responsibilities of Agriculture Specialist(s), implementing clear and transparent policy and procedures, as well as establishing a compassionate, inclusive, and safe work setting. The Community Gardens Assistant Manager will work across Food Shuttle departments to serve Agriculture Department goals and the Food Shuttle’s goals and mission.

Development Donor Relations Specialist - Reporting to the VP of Development, the Development Donor Relations Specialist is a full-time position with the primary responsibility of maintaining and managing the organization’s donor information systems with over 30,000 records to ensure that all donor records are complete and accurate, and all gift data is recorded accurately and timely. This includes gift processing, managing data import and data entry, data extraction, preparing acknowledgment letters, creating development reports and dashboards, analyzing donor data to identify development trends, conduct research on current and prospective donors, and other related activities. In addition, this position will interact with donors and will provide customer service, along with stewardship and cultivation.

Volunteer Services Coordinator - The Volunteer Services Team is responsible for the recruitment, placement, retention, and recognition of all volunteer resources, including interns, for the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

The Volunteer Services Coordinator coordinates recruitment, scheduling, and database management for all volunteer-based operations for Food Distribution, Community Agriculture, Nutrition, and Education in our service counties. Leads virtual volunteer services efforts.

Communications Coordinator - The Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development and management of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s public digital presence to increase online awareness, visibility, and fundraising. The Communications Coordinator manages social media strategy, the design and production of digital communications, and a variety of interactive media components.

Internship Openings:

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle offers a number of unpaid internships, approximately 3-4 months each, based on the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters (January through May, May through August, and August through December).

Communications and Events Intern - The intern will join the Office of Communications, Policy and External Affairs in raising our profile as a leader in building efficient and innovative programs and forward-thinking solutions, including policy solutions, for ending hunger. The intern will participate in all aspects of communications work, including event planning, covering organization and team events, and managing our digital presence. Minimum age 18.

Dietetic Intern - The Community Health Education Program is open to accepting Food Service Management and Community Nutrition dietetic interns who need supervised learning experience for their dietetic internships through either traditional or distance programs. This internship is a valuable training experience for participants pursuing a career in nutrition, dietetics, and/or public health. We hope the experience will be valuable to participants, in providing them with skills and a broader understanding of issues related to food insecurity in our communities, and the roles of dietitians inside of the food charity system/food banking. Must be accepted into a dietetic internship program or be in the process of applying to a distance dietetic internship program.

Gardens for Everyone Intern - The Gardens for Everyone intern will assist the Gardens for Everyone Coordinators in the day-to-day operations of the program through three main categories: program planning (including assisting with scheduling builds and site visits, communicating with clients, developing outreach materials); program implementation (loading and unloading tools and equipment, driving company vehicles, assisting in garden builds); and program evaluation (collecting and analyzing data, creating marketing and educational materials), and other duties as assigned. This role provides an opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience and insights into HR operations in a Non-Profit organization. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at junior or senior level or graduate program.

Volunteer Services Intern - The intern will work on different tasks centered around the “Recruit, Retain, Reward” model when interacting with current and potential volunteers. The focused goals include becoming proficient in utilizing the Volunteer Management System, Galaxy Digital, and creating/refining target lists to assist with recruitment. Oral and written communication and customer service are highly needed skills. 8-12 hours/week. Minimum age 18.
