Customers, Corporations Join Together to Fight Hunger

Here at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle we fully believe that when communities come together, hunger loses. That belief was fully illustrated again this month when we received a 1,300 pounds donation of prairie-raised, grassfed beef from Walling & Spencer. (Which is enough to make 7,000 hamburger sliders!)

This incredibly generous donation was made possible not only by the kind-hearted folks at Walling & Spencer, but also by their customers. That’s because Walling & Spencer operates a “Food with Purpose” program. As described on their website"package label
“When you order a Subscription Box you not only receive a curated selection of artisan beef & seafood - you also help create a hunger-free, healthy community. Together, we believe hunger IS fixable if the community works together to do two things: create sources of healthy food and empower people by learning job skills or growing their own food.”
And when corporations and customers come together for a greater cause, the result is pretty impressive.

Give and Receive

Not convinced? Look no farther than “Community Boxes” from The Produce Box. As they say on their websiteproduce-bo
“Every time you order from The Produce Box, you help us send fresh produce to families who couldn't otherwise afford it. Donated boxes, select Community Boxes and donated bulk produce to local food banks connect you to your community right here in North Carolina.”
With their emphasis on fresh, healthy produce, The Produce Box is a natural partner for Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. And their efforts to support and unite the community make it an even better fit.

IMG_0323Another great example is the “Get a Turkey, Give a Turkey” campaign that Relay Foods ran last December, challenging their customers to help make the holidays a little brighter in their communities. The online grocer matched every turkey sale with a turkey donation, to the tune of 25 D'Artagnan Turkeys (ranging from 10-13 pounds each)! As they put it:
“It's a really simple way we can make a difference together this holiday season.”
And it is simple. When consumers choose to shop with companies who choose to give back, hunger loses, and community wins.

There’s still time!

We’re pleased to say that IFFS’s partnerships with all these companies go beyond one-time promotions.

Although the holidays have passed, Relay Foods is offering a “$5 Give-Back” through the end of March. They’ll donate $5 worth of food to IFFS for every online order (totaling $50 or greater) placed using the coupon code IFFS5.

Additionally, you can support continued donations to IFFS by signing up for a monthly subscription box from Walling & Spencer or The Produce Box.

Because when communities unite, hunger doesn't stand a chance.
