WRAL — Expect some reggae and soul at Band Together's Main Event concert at Red Hat Amphitheater this summer.
The organization, which uses live music as a platform for social change, announced Tuesday that rock and roll soul band St. Paul & The Broken Bones will headline the June 1 show with Jamaican group Toots and the Maytals.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 8 through E-tix. Proceeds will benefit Band Together's nonprofit partner, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and its Child Food Hub in Durham. The space is designed to increase the impact of Child Hunger Programs and, in the next five years, will help grow the BackPack Buddies program by more than 50 percent and increase school pantries by 44 percent.
Since its inception in 2001, Band Together has donated more than $9 million to benefit the Triangle community. Previous Main Event headliners have included Ben Folds, The B-52s, and Walk the Moon.
