In conjunction with corporate sponsor Aetna and the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, North Carolina FC will host a food donation drive prior to the start of its Oct. 5 match against New York Red Bulls II, presented by Aetna.
Fans will be able to make donations outside the Northeast gate at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park, located nearby the Coastal Credit Union Box Office. The first 300 fans to donate at least five cans of food will receive a free ticket to the match.
Donations will be taken starting at 5:30 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m.
The week following the match, players from NCFC and the North Carolina Courage will participate in a day of service on Oct. 9 at the Food Shuttle Child Food Hub, where they’ll help sort and prepare bags for the Food Shuttle’s Backpack Buddies program. The program provides children from low-income households with 10-12 pounds of nutritious meals and snacks for the weekend when school is not in session.
