2020 will go down in the history books as one of the most difficult years in memory. The winter months have been particularly difficult, as families have struggled with the economic crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the amazing support of generous donors to Inter-Faith Food Shuttle as 2020 drew to a close, those same families have the nutritious food they need to get through this trying time and beyond. To date, the Food Shuttle’s year-end campaign “You are the Heart of Our Community” donors have raised $379,731.95, and gifts continue to come in.
The foundation for this tremendous show of support was laid by two organizations that provided funding for a holiday matching opportunity. The Stewards Fund put forth $58,644 and 4 Others Foundation gave $52,000 toward the matching opportunity, ensuring that all gifts made to the Food Shuttle during the campaign would be matched, up to $110,644. Together with these matching funds, the community raised an astounding $490,375.95 in just two short months.
These donations bring renewed hope to neighbors like Margie. Margie cares for her young granddaughters and often finds it difficult to make ends meet. She relies on Inter-Faith Food Shuttle to put nutritious food on the table for herself and her small family. “They’re a godsend,” says Margie of the Food Shuttle’s food donations that get her through each week. “God put it in their mind to do this for a reason.”
