During the month of March, the legal community is invited to support Inter-Faith Food Shuttle in the annual North Carolina Legal Feeding Frenzy! Every year, North Carolina law firms, law schools, and organizations compete in a food and fund drive competition to raise donations for Feeding the Carolinas’ food banks. Each team selects a food bank as their beneficiary, and Attorney General Josh Stein awards the “Attorney General’s Cup” to the firm, school, or organization with the highest average individual donation. Last year, twelve teams selected Inter-Faith Food Shuttle as their beneficiary and raised over $22,000 to support Food Shuttle programs to end hunger.
This year, the need for support from our North Carolina legal community is even greater. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased food insecurity, with the adults impacted increasing 1 in 7 to almost 1 in 5. The Food Shuttle’s Mobile Markets, providing fresh groceries and produce to the hardest hit communities in North Carolina, have expanded from serving 6,500 community members each month before the pandemic to now serving 75,000 individuals monthly. At the same time, food costs have increased by 1,000% due to huge deficits in food recovery and supply chain disruptions. By taking part in NC Legal Feeding Frenzy and selecting the Food Shuttle as your beneficiary, legal groups are helping us meet the sustained need for hunger relief in the community.
The NC Legal Feeding Frenzy competition runs from March 1 to March 31, 2021, and registration is open now through the last day of the competition. To register your team(s), sign up here, and remember to select Inter-Faith Food Shuttle as your beneficiary. Teams that register early will be invited to participate in a Virtual Kick-Off event on Friday, February 26, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The Food Shuttle thanks you in advance for donating food and funds to help end hunger in central North Carolina!
