Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is pleased to announce that Allison Itin has joined their Board of Directors. Allison, an employment lawyer at Red Hat, says that she has developed a real passion for and interest in identifying ways to resolve hunger in our community, and Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is a clear leader in this effort in our area.
Allison and her husband, Samuel, moved to Raleigh in 2013, and have had the opportunity to frequently witness the impact of the Food Shuttle’s work in the area, in part thanks in part to their involvement with the Triangle’s Jewish community.
Allison was moved to want to give her time and talent as a Board Member due to the Food Shuttle’s work identifying and implementing creative, innovative ways to address food insecurity. “The multi-faceted approach to addressing this challenge employed by Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, coupled with the dedicated group of staff and volunteers, has led me to want to serve in a more active role on the Board,” she says. Allison continues, “I also hope to help the Food Shuttle think of new ways to garner support (whether through advocacy, volunteerism, or financially) so that the organization can continue to grow.”
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Allison attended Emory University where she received a B.A. in Political Science and Dance. During college and for the year after college, she worked at a number of arts nonprofit organizations where she saw first-hand how nonprofit programming and fundraising works. Ultimately, she attended law school at Wake Forest University School of Law and moved to Raleigh upon graduation.
In addition to the Food Shuttle Board, Allison serves on the Board of Directors of the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County and has served on the Board of Business and Professional Women of the Triangle. She and Samuel are expecting their first child in December 2021.
