In these unprecedented times, it’s more important than ever to embrace solidarity and reconnect with our communities. Tito’s Handmade Vodka understands that and through Love, Tito’s, the philanthropic heart of the company, they’ve created the Block to Block program to help do so. The Love, Tito’s Block to Block program works to reconnect neighborhoods and create community gardens and farms throughout the United States. By teaming up with nonprofit organizations in major cities, Love, Tito’s strives to bring communities together and increase access to fresh and healthy foods.
The most recent project with Inter-Faith Food Shuttle includes the construction of a new greenhouse at the Food Shuttle Farm. In 2020, the Love, Tito’s program provided funding to support the first part of the greenhouse project, following up in 2021 with additional support to finish the construction of the greenhouse. These donations fully funded the greenhouse and provided continued support for the Food Shuttle Farm’s other agricultural programs. The new greenhouse will increase the Food Shuttle’s ability to grow more nutrient-dense produce in a shorter time frame.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support the Food Shuttle Farm as part of our Love, Tito’s Block to Block program,” said Lindsey Bates, Program & Communications Manager for Love, Tito’s. “Our team is excited to support the new greenhouse for the Food Shuttle Farm and deepen our impact by coming together to volunteer and get our hands dirty while working on various projects at the farm.”
As a part of Hunger Action Month, team members from Tito’s volunteered at the Food Shuttle Farm, operating in the same greenhouse that was made possible by their Love, Tito’s Block to Block program. Working alongside the Farm staff, the Tito’s team members helped lay gravel in the newly-built greenhouse. Tito’s representatives traveled from as far as two hours away just to volunteer, and their commitment to impacting directly on a community level is appreciated beyond measure. With their help, the Food Shuttle will be able to continue creating sustainability projects that increase access to fresh produce and support neighbors on their path to food security in central North Carolina.
