We are proud to share that Inter-Faith Food Shuttle was one of 19 local organizations awarded grant funding this year by the Searstone/Lutheran Services Carolinas Community Benefit Committee. Their generous support helps power our Grocery Bags for Seniors program.
As our population ages, more seniors are at risk of hunger and isolation. Many face barriers like limited transportation, chronic health conditions, or mobility issues that make it difficult to access nutritious food. At the same time, rising food costs are straining already-tight budgets.
That’s why this funding is so impactful. Thanks to this generous grant, we can continue meeting seniors where they are, providing consistent access to healthy food and a meaningful connection to the broader community. Our program doesn’t just fill plates, it supports the well-being and nutritional needs of the seniors in our community.
Since 2014, the Community Benefit Committee has reinvested up to five percent of revenues from the Searstone retirement community in Cary into Wake County nonprofits that serve seniors and vulnerable populations. This year, grant funding was awarded across the region, and we’re honored to be among the recipients.
We’re also grateful to have been invited to Searstone in June for a special celebration with fellow grantees, residents, and staff. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect and reflect on the collective impact we’re making in our community.
Thanks to Searstone and Lutheran Services Carolinas, more seniors in our community will receive the nourishing food they need to age with dignity and health. Together, we’re building a stronger, more food-secure Wake County.
