As the leaves begin to change and the air turns crisp, the Food Shuttle is filled with energy. This time of year brings renewed purpose and reflection — a season to gather, give thanks, and celebrate the connections that make our community strong.
But for many of our neighbors, the holidays can bring more worry than rest. While some families look forward to extra time together around the table, others are picking up extra shifts, stretching paychecks, and wondering how they’ll afford the next meal. For them, the season of abundance can be one of the hardest times of the year.
At the Food Shuttle, we know that hunger doesn’t take a break, so neither do we. As the year winds down, our work speeds up. Trucks are on the road earlier and later. Our farm and kitchens are in full motion. Staff and volunteers are working hand in hand with partners to ensure that every neighbor can experience the dignity of good food and the comfort of belonging.
The holidays are more than a moment on the calendar. They are a reminder of why we do this work — because food is more than nourishment; it is connection, culture, and love. Whether it’s a warm meal shared with friends, a bag of produce from our farm, or extra time with the family, every effort reflects the spirit of our mission.
As we head into the final months of the year, that spirit guides us. We are focused, motivated, and united in our belief that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy food — not just during the holidays, but every day of the year.
This is the spirit of the Food Shuttle. It’s the steady rhythm of service, compassion, and resilience that carries us forward, season after season.
