Kathy was born in Iran and raised in the UK, bringing a global perspective to her work. She has over 25 years of experience managing fast-paced office environments, including roles in a clinical research organization and at Duke’s Office of Licensing and Ventures. She works closely with the CEO and Board of Directors, with a strong understanding of executive priorities and a focus on efficient, well-coordinated operations. Known for her calm, approachable style, Kathy keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Outside of work, Kathy enjoys spending time with her family, her son, and her nine-year-old chihuahua-pug. She also enjoys photography, baking, and reading.

CHARLES PARRISH

Born and raised in Raleigh, Charles established his roots serving the Triangle community by delivering Meals on Wheels and garden-grown produce to neighbors as a child alongside his grandfather. Drawing upon over a decade of experience in agriculture including work at NASA and Biosphere 2, Charles cultivates healthy soil and community at the Food Shuttle Farm and Learning Gardens. He earned a B.S. in Biological Engineering as well as certificates in Permaculture Design and Early Childhood Outdoor Learning Environment Design from N.C. State and earned a M.S. in Biosystems Engineering from the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he co-founded the not-for-profit Controlled Environment Agriculture Design Standards (CEADS). Charles is also a musician, climber, and diver who enjoys exploring with his family and friends.

Alex Holovin

Alex was born in Ukraine and holds two master’s degrees—one in Electromechanics and another in Economics of Enterprise. He later earned a certification in Business Intelligence, allowing him to apply his technical and analytical expertise to the supply chain sector.
Alex began his career as a junior procurement specialist and, through dedication and leadership, rose to become Chief of the Purchasing Department at a manufacturing company. After relocating to the United States, he chose Durham, North Carolina as his new home.
In September 2023, Alex joined Inter-Faith Food Shuttle as the Senior Director of Food Recovery and Distribution. As of February 2025, he serves as the Associate Vice President of Operations, where he continues to drive impact through strategic leadership and operational excellence.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends, exploring the outdoors, cooking, and diving into a good book.

Irma Cegia brings over 25 years of expertise in nonprofit accounting to her work, contributing her talents to four nonprofit organizations throughout her career, including the Food Shuttle. Since joining the Food Shuttle in 2016, Irma has been instrumental in advancing its mission and operations with her depth of experience and unwavering dedication.
Originally hailing from New York, Irma earned her degree from Hofstra University, setting the foundation for her successful journey in nonprofit financial management. Beyond her professional achievements, Irma cherishes time with her family, immersing herself in the joys of reading and discovering new music. Her personal passions beautifully complement her commitment to making a difference in the nonprofit sector.
