We are beyond grateful to Publix Super Markets Charities for their generous 2024 Special Hunger Grant, which has made a significant difference in our ability to serve our community. This funding allowed us to purchase two 16-ft refrigerated trucks with liftgates, a critical addition to our fleet that will help us extend our impact in new and powerful ways. 

The Food Shuttle has relied on food recovery to feed our neighbors since 1989. Everyday wear and tears take a toll on our trucks, making it transformative when funders like Publix Charities step up to refresh our ageing fleet of vehicles. These new trucks have enabled us to pick up food from local retailers and distribute it to families across our service area. 

The refrigerated trucks ensure that perishable items, such as fresh produce, dairy, and protein, can be safely transported and delivered to our neighbors. This means more nutritious food will reach more people in our community, allowing us to increase our distribution efforts and help reduce food insecurity. 

With these new resources, we’re able to expand our reach and recover more food than ever before. We are so thankful for Publix Super Markets Charities’ commitment to supporting hunger relief and their continued dedication to making a real difference in the lives of individuals and families facing food insecurity.
