Our Farm Stand, located at 2300 Dover Farm Road, exemplifies this commitment by providing our neighbors with the ability to purchase organically raised fresh produce at affordable prices.
Farm Stand visitors can purchase the season’s finest produce, such as zucchini, carrots, onions, and cabbage. All proceeds directly support Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s mission to FEED our neighbors, TEACH self-sufficiency, and GROW healthy foods by cultivating innovative approaches to end hunger.
As part of our commitment to sustainable agriculture, we’re seeking to enhance the efficiency of our farming operations, broaden access to agricultural knowledge, and create long-term solutions that minimize waste. By opening the Farm Stand to visitors Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm, we’re providing our neighbors with the opportunity to obtain high-quality produce that was grown and harvested right in the heart of Raleigh, NC.
“The Fam Stand is a fun and important way that we engage with the community around the farm and our neighbors beyond simply providing produce,” Kristen Sommerfeld, Farm Manager at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Farm, said. “The Farm Stand is not intended to be a source of large-cale distribution; neither is it intended to be a source of significant income. Of what we grow, we cap only up to 3% for sale at the Farm Stand because we want to make sure our priority is clear to distribute as much food at no cost to neighbors in our community.”
“We offer a simple model based off farmer’s market prices, and it’s a place where we engage with our community. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate and participate in a small way in what a more sustainable, more localized, more empowered nutrition secure community agriculture system might look like. It’s not the only way, but it’s a means of demonstrating what a small-scale farm-to-family system looks like.”
