Green wallace.green@rada-nc.com 919-630-0180The Raleigh Area Development Authority (RADA) announces the selection of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle (IFFS) to operate a Farm Stand in Southeast Raleigh, which will bring fresh produce to a community with few healthy food options.
With financial support from the City of Raleigh, the IFFS will open a temporary Farm Stand at 1601 Martin Luther King Boulevard (on the site of Mount Peace Baptist Church) in Raleigh. The project is a response by the City of Raleigh to the recent closing of a Kroger food store in the neighborhood, resulting in the creation of a "food desert." The Farm Stand will sell fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers as well as organically-grown produce harvested from the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Teaching Farm on Tryon Road in Raleigh.
The Farm Stand will be open every Saturday from 9am-1pm beginning Saturday August 24, 2013, and continuing through the month of October.
