$80,000 and Unlimited Gratitude!
Thanks to generous donors and hardworking volunteers, the #HungerFreeNC MEDIAthon raised over $80,000 for the 6 innovative organizations of the HungerFreeNC Coalition. This collaboration had never been done before, and now every gift will fuel the collective fight against hunger's root causes.
On behalf of our fellow Coalition Members - Farmer Foodshare, Transplanting Traditions Community Farm, Hawkeye Indian Cultural Center, Action Pathways, and Conetoe Family Life Center - we would like to thank everyone who watched, listened, spread the word, and chipped in. The beautiful website HungerFreeNC.org will remain active and accepting donations, and we encourage you to browse around if you have not already.
A special thanks also goes to our wonderful media partners: WRAL & Radio One Raleigh for making this all happen. The MEDIAthon is only made possible because of their creativity, commitment, and powerful voices in the community.
In addition we recognize the Corporate Sponsors who set a strong example by giving generously to the #HungerFreeNC Movement. Thank you for demonstrating how doing good is good business.
The HungerFreeNC Movement continues!
Have you seen it? HungerFreeNC.org
Since launching Inter-Faith Food Shuttle from her kitchen table in 1989, Co-Founder and CEO Jill Staton Bullard has dreamed of a movement that would create the political and social will to end hunger here in North Carolina. In 2014 that dream was seeded when WRAL-TV and Radio One Raleigh stations created the HungerFreeNC MEDIAthon. It showcased IFFS' non-traditional solutions to end hunger. But we can’t do it alone.
That's why the 2015 HungerFreeNC MEDIAthon on July 16 featured a coalition of SIX organizations who are as involved in creating innovative solutions to end hunger across the region as we are! Together with our media partners, we've begun building the coalition Jill always dreamed possible.
