The winter months can be challenging but thanks to you, more families than ever will receive the support they need moving into 2020. During the holiday season of 2019, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle challenged our supporters to make 1.5 million meals possible through our holiday campaign “Full Plates, Full Hearts”. Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to surpass that goal, and the donations are still coming in. A special thanks to our own employees who helped us reach an internal goal of 100% in staff giving.
On Giving Tuesday (December 3) alone, the Food Shuttle raised over $22,000. When including the $50,000 foundational grant provided by Publix Super Market Charities, these funds provided 180,000 meals in just one day. Thank you to Publix for their commitment to end hunger and partnering with us during the holiday season.
During this time of year which is most difficult for so many families, your generous support helped families like Brittany’s, who along with her husband Clint, were doing everything they could just to get by. She and her husband both work but they still struggle to make ends meet. They stretch every dollar to make sure their two boys have enough to eat—even if that sometimes means going without heat and good shoes to wear in the during the cold months. When Brittany discovered the mobile pantry near her home was distributing free, nutritious food, she was overjoyed. “As a mom, it makes me feel bad when I can’t provide my sons with things other families take for granted. It’s heartbreaking,” said Brittany. “But because of the mobile pantry, I could provide for them this year. I’m grateful. It’s been such a huge blessing.”
Your donations during “Full Plates, Full Hearts” help support the Food Shuttle’s many programs including Mobile Markets, BackPack Buddies, Grocery Bags for Seniors, and others that help to ensure that our neighbors don’t have to choose between food and keeping the lights on and the heating bill paid. Your support means that Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is going into 2020 stronger than ever. And for that, we are 100% thankful.
Happy New Year!
