Downtown Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater played host to legendary hip-hop MC Big Daddy Kane, soul-revivalist Lee Fields and the Expressions, and funk and soul trio Khruangbin at Comeback Fest on October 23. This celebration of music and community put together by Band Together NC and the United Way of the Greater Triangle raised over $1 million to benefit 100 Triangle charities in recovery and rebuilding from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Happy crowds were entertained by the lineup, and roamed the grounds of the Amphitheater, sampling food and drink, picking up event merch, and enjoying the perfect fall weather. A VIP area was set up for event sponsors that featured even more offerings, as well as a silent auction, proceeds of which would go toward the final amount raised.
When the check was presented around 9 p.m., by Thorne Daubenspeck, Band Together NC’s Executive Director, and Eric Guckian, President and CEO of United Way of the Greater Triangle, surrounded by representatives of the receiving organizations, the amount totaled $1,101,679.59, with dollars still coming in through various channels.
The Food Shuttle is proud to stand among community partners, donors, and friends to celebrate the strength and resilience of our community. For more information on Band Together, visit https://www.bandtogethernc.org/.
