Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is pleased to announce that Michelle Pavliv has joined their Board of Directors. Michelle has worked with the Board’s Governance Committee for the last four years, and says that the Food Shuttle’s innovative, multi-faceted approaches to end hunger in the community inspires her to give more of her time and talent to the organization.
Michelle and her husband, Leo, moved to the Triangle area in 1997 and purposely looked for philanthropies with which to engage whose missions resonated with their values. Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, with its breadth of programs to provide sustainable solutions to end hunger and reduce food waste, fit perfectly with what they were looking for. They soon became Food Shuttle donors, and ultimately volunteers.
Michelle sees her new position on the Food Shuttle’s Board as the perfect way to help the organization move forward in this post-pandemic world. “As a board member, I want to ensure that Inter-Faith Food Shuttle responsibly uses its resources to end hunger in our community. I will work alongside my fellow board members and staff to develop a strategic plan to move the organization towards innovative solutions to complex problems.”
After a long career spent in the world of food technology and allied industries, today Michelle donates her time to multiple organizations supporting community development. She holds board and leadership positions on various local and national philanthropies, including Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, the National Charity League, and Habitat Global Village.
Michelle was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and an MBA from Rutgers University. She and her husband have two grown children, and a dog, Peyton.
