Inspired by humanity’s ability to overcome, in 2021, the John Deere Foundation pledged to invest at least $200 million over the next 10 years in three groups of people: smallholder and resource-constrained farmers around the world, families and youth in John Deere’s home communities, and the company’s own workforce. In making this pledge, the John Deere Foundation will provide the equivalent of 100 million meals over the next decade to food banks like Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.
Back in February, John Deere Foundation granted $35,650 to support Inter-Faith Food Shuttle programs that feed, teach, grow, and cultivate a hunger free community right here in central North Carolina.
John Deere has been a partner of the Food Shuttle since 2018, providing support for the Food Shuttle Farm and Child Hunger programs. Their recent investment will help support general operating expenses, enable the Food Shuttle to adapt, and serve the greatest needs facing our community. This is particularly invaluable now, during our current economic uncertainty with supply chain disruptions and high costs affecting all operations.
“With many unknowns of this economic climate impacting our neighbors facing hunger, we are grateful for the intentionality and generosity of funders like the John Deere Foundation,” shares Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s President and CEO, L. Ron Pringle.
