It was a beautiful spring evening at our Farm Ribbon Cutting Event, as many friends and supporters joined us to celebrate the expansion of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Farm on May 19.
Thanks to our sponsors from SOLV Energy and Jon and Becky Showalter, the occasion was marked with food, drinks, and lots of fun. Along with the hospitable weather, the evening was filled with melodious blue grass music provided by the Counterclockwise String Brand, and delicious eats provided by The Spinning Plate food truck, Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen, and wonderful desserts from Mandolin. Love, Tito’s ensured that everyone enjoyed a cool beverage flavored with strawberries picked fresh from the Farm’s own fields.
Among our guests were NC First Lady Kristin Cooper, a well-known advocate of hunger relief efforts in our state, and District 3 Wake County Commissioner Maria Cervania. Food Shuttle Founder and longtime organization leader Jill Staton Bullard attended and spoke of the opportunities the expansion would offer to those in need, while honoring the work already accomplished by our Farm, as did President and CEO Ron Pringle and VP of Agricultural Programs Jonathan Lee.
The occasion celebrated the expansion of the Farm with the ribbon cutting of the Multi-Purpose Building and a Tractor Shed. These structures encompass our FEED, TEACH, GROW, and CULTIVATE approaches to ending hunger. They serve as a learning and gathering space, which will provide more outlets for our various growing, gardening, and cooking curriculum.
On hand for the ribbon cutting were Ron Pringle, Jonathan Lee, original Food Shuttle volunteers Carl and Emilee Sigel and Warren Shaw, Board members Matt Robinson, Jake Rabon, and Jon Showalter, and First Lady Kristin Cooper, We are grateful for those that joined us in celebrating the momentous milestone for our organization.
