April is probably best known for giving us the first signs of spring, pranking our family on April Fool’s Day, and honoring our planet during Earth and Arbor Days, but did you know that April is also Global Volunteer Month? This movement encourages a spirit of giving back to the community, where neighbors come together to make a difference by contributing their time, skills, and passion towards various causes. At Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, we are gearing up to celebrate the power of volunteerism next month and hope you’ll join us!
As Global Volunteer Month approaches, our Food Shuttle has set an ambitious goal - to fill all available volunteer shifts in April. Whether our friends offer a few hours of their time or a regular commitment, every contribution matters in the fight against hunger. Volunteering with the Food Shuttle offers individuals a chance to connect with their community, cultivate empathy, and make a tangible difference.
We host a variety of volunteer opportunities every week, ranging from administrative support and packing grocery bags in our warehouse to driving our delivery trucks and working the soil on our farm or gardens.
Please consider lending a hand next month - and any other month! To get started with volunteering, check out our volunteer website. Here, we list open shifts and spotlight areas of highest need. You will create your volunteer profile, then sign up directly for specific shifts and areas of service.
Are you part of a church, scout troop, need a corporate team-building activity, or just want to plan a day of service with your friends? We would love to help your groups discover the fun of giving back, together.
As we work on building a sustainable volunteer force to support our mission year-round, we hope that the essence of Global Volunteer Month will extend far beyond April.
We can’t wait to see you at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle!
