That's the question School Counselor Katie Trueman asked her students one Friday as they picked up their weekly BackPack Buddies bags. Even she was surprised by some of the answers.
The Ripple Effect
From the outside, those backpacks seem just any other school bag. But inside there is enough food for 6 balanced meals and 2 healthy snacks. The BackPack Buddies program ensures that kids from food-insecure homes have good food to eat between school lunch on Friday and school breakfast Monday morning. But BackPack Buddies is about more than just the food.
