It has been a busy year of service to our neighbors at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle! All year long, we have been feeding, teaching, growing, and cultivating an end to hunger in our community. In this season of celebration, we pause for a moment to appreciate our dedicated and compassionate community partners, donors, volunteers, and staff. Our supporters are truly the hands of hope in Central North Carolina, and we could not be more grateful for them. That’s why we’re proud to present the 2022-2023 Gratitude Report!
The 2022-2023 Fiscal Year was about listening to and learning from our community partners and those with lived experience of food insecurity, then taking community-informed action to better serve our neighbors. Throughout the year, we worked to meet the challenges of skyrocketing food costs and the end of vital government subsidies for thousands across our communities by:
Serving over 208,400 neighbors through Mobile Markets
Distributing over 17,825 grocery bags to seniors in need
Supporting efforts to feed neighbors with over 27,230 volunteer hours
Harvesting over 41,500 pounds of fresh produce from our farm and gardens
Building skills and knowledge for 1,137 community members with valuable community health education
Distributed nearly 66,000 bags of food through BackPack Buddies.
We are also looking to the future of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.
“As we grow forward, we will continue to meet the needs of our neighbors, advocate for change, and speak on behalf of those that feel unheard. Our continued collaborative focus remains on improving access to healthy, nutritious foods, educational experiences that empower, and training that leads to better lives for our neighbors. Thank you for your continued support and belief in our shared vision of a hunger-free community.” - L. Ron Pringle, President and CEO, and Kurt Heusner, Chair of IFFS Board of Directors
