At the end of last month, Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 storm and impacted several states, including North Carolina. The devastation left behind will require months of recovery efforts. At Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, we are committed to assisting our neighbors and partners that have been impacted by the storm.
The member Food Banks of Feeding the Carolinas, including Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, are hard at work assessing the impact within local communities and offering food assistance and hope to our friends and neighbors. To support our efforts, we have launched a Fund Drive specifically for Hurricane Helene relief, which can be found here: 2024 Hurricane Helene — Inter-Faith Food Shuttle
With the funds collected, we plan to send our food truck, The Spinning Plate, to deliver hot, fresh meals to individuals, families, volunteers and first responders in affected communities. We also plan to provide ready-made meals to displaced families through our meal-prep program, as well as continuing to assist with food distribution and allocation to those impacted by the storm.
Additionally, we are collecting supplies to distribute to our neighbors. Specifically, hygiene and cleaning supplies, such as diapers, baby wipes, feminine hygiene products, toilet paper, deodorant and more are in critical need. At Food Shuttle Fest earlier this month, we successfully hosted a supply drive and collected essential items for distribution. We are happy to continue to accept supplies to assist our neighbors.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our Hurricane Helene relief efforts so far. Together, we can help those most impacted recover in the aftermath of the storm.
