35 Years: Food Shuttle Begins a Year of Celebration

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is excited to celebrate our 35th anniversary with the community we so deeply care about this year, with gratitude for the support and engagement that has only grown since our 1989 founding.

With food going to waste and neighbors going hungry, Jill Staton Bullard and Maxine Solomon were moved to create the Food Shuttle that year to recover and distribute food that would otherwise go to landfills. Over time, we developed programs that delivered grocery bags to seniors and BackPack Buddies to children in schools. We also developed nutrition education programs, agricultural and community gardens initiatives, and eventually, unveiled the Spinning Plate food truck, a mobile kitchen that travels throughout our 7-county service area.

Our roots truly run deep, and we appreciate the support as we continue building on our foundation, doing what we do best, and engaging our community in this shared work.

We hope to spend time with many of you at events we are planning to celebrate with our neighbors, partners, volunteers and supporters of every stripe. So, look for invitations here as the year progresses. We are in this together!
