At Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, we believe in the power of community building community. That’s why we prioritize essential partnerships to amplify our impact across our seven-county service area. One of those partners is Feed the Pack Food Pantry.
Feed the Pack is a student-led food pantry located at NC State University that is open to all students, faculty and staff. “The mission of the Feed the Pack Food Pantry at NC State is to help meet the food needs of all members of the NC State community with dignity and respect,” the organization’s website states.
As one of our agency partners, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle provides fresh produce, pantry staples, and resources to Feed the Pack that they distribute on NC State’s Campus – part of our commitment to support our neighbors at all stages of development by eliminating barriers to accessing food.
“When we open, usually there are anywhere from 40 to 90 students in this space that are doing homework together; they’re talking, they’re sharing snacks, they’re in community,” Stevie Kimmet, Program Director of Feed the Pack Pantry, said. “What we recognize about the work that we do is that for so many cultures, food is community, and we want to be a place where students can spend time together and where they can really appreciate the community that is here at NC State.”
While many of us may not recognize it, hunger exists in every community, often due to people simply trying to make ends meet. Hunger does not discriminate – it expands to students, their families, faculty members and more, which is why partnerships like this are crucial as we work towards a hunger free community.
We are so grateful for our continued partnership with Feed the Pack to increase food access for students in our community! Revisit when our President and CEO, Ron Pringle, stopped by Feed the Pack for Gratitude Tuesday 2024 below.
