Our Back-to-School campaign reminds us that along with pencils and paper, children need a daily supply of food to take on new concepts, run on playgrounds, and socialize more successfully.
Our Community Health and Agriculture Education teams have collaborated to develop the new Food Shuttle Academy, an online learning platform with free, self-paced lessons on health, nutrition, agriculture, and more!
Our Spring Match challenge, made possible by generous funders, including SOLV Energy and the Mead Family Foundation, exceeded the $105,000 goal, raising an additional $70,000 to erase hunger!
Love, Tito’s has a heart for community gardens and increasing access to fresh, healthy foods. Their philanthropic Love, Tito’s Block to Block program, reconnects neighborhoods and creates community gardens and farms throughout the United States. Our hearts are in full bloom knowing that our Camden Street Garden will be the next beneficiary of Block to Block, allowing neighbors with mobility challenges to access our many activities more easily.
Now, at the ripe age of 7 years, Charlie has come up with a new way of supporting the hunger relief effort that is so close to his heart. He and his brother, 4-year-old Ford, recruited several of their neighborhood friends to host a lemonade stand to benefit BackPack Buddies. The boys and their friends wanted to do something for their peers going back to school to help them start off on the right foot.
As kids head back to the classroom this August, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is focusing on ensuring that all children have access to the nutritious food they need to grow and thrive. Chiesi USA has partnered with the Food Shuttle for a Back-to-School giving campaign, matching gifts to make an even greater impact of the lives of children like Elijah. From now through August 31,
Rachel’s passion for serving her community made her the perfect choice to nominate for 7th Annual Food Lion Feedys Awards, which honor people who go above and beyond to fight hunger. She received the Lion Heart Award in recognition of her outstanding skills in coordinating and motivating volunteers.
Peggy and Faye are two community members who receive grocery bags from Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s Grocery Bags for Seniors program. Through this program, volunteers come together to pack over 2,000 grocery bags a month with fresh produce and non-perishable groceries and deliver them to local seniors who many be at risk of hunger.
Thankfully, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle has supporters who have taken the cause of child hunger to heart and have made a commitment to change this sad reality. Tom Russell Charitable Foundation is one such supporter, having made a recent $100,000 gift to the Food Shuttle to address child hunger head on, through targeted programming and focused partnerships.
