As we eagerly await the arrival of spring and the many changes that come with it, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle has a change of its own to announce: the promotion of Marshall Dietrich as our new Community Garden Manager in our Agriculture Department!
Cole Martin: Volunteering Wholeheartedly Around the Food Shuttle Programs
Cole Martin started volunteering with the Food Shuttle in August 2020, after his place of work, AECOM, put out a call to employees. He helped out on the Food Shuttle Farm for a day, enjoyed the time outdoors, and heard about the many programs of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. With a curiosity to see the various parts of the organization in action, he started signing up to help with different programs ranging from agriculture to food distribution.

Doron Gordon Explores Exciting Future with the Food Shuttle
Doron Gordon is a problem solver. An admitted “tech geek” by nature and having enjoyed a long career in computer technology, Doron says that he used to focus on what that technology could do for business. These days, he’s using technology to solve problems for the world, but his solutions to the issues facing society are not all high tech. Sometimes, they involve efforts of a more basic nature—like pulling weeds and shoveling mulch. Doron Gordon is the founder of the Gordon Family Foundation, a generous funder of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and a frequent supporter and volunteer at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s 14-acre Farm in Raleigh.
Highlighting Blue Cross NC as Key 2020 Community Partner
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina was one of the first major donors to step up and provide funding to kickstart emergency response efforts to stave off hunger for those impacted by the pandemic. Their nimble response to support the Food Shuttle is just one of the many initiatives that distinguish Blue Cross NC as a strategic partner in the Food Shuttle’s mission to end hunger.
Green Tradition Carries Forth at Victory Garden
Citizens were encouraged to plant Victory Gardens to provide their own fruits and vegetables. The Durham Bulls are carrying on the tradition today in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, by growing fresh local food for our community at the Victory Garden at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
