Among the excitement of March Madness, there was another spirited contest craze that took place in the Tarheel State: The NC Legal Feeding Frenzy. The NC Legal Feeding Frenzy is an annual joint program of the NCBA Young Lawyers Division and Feeding the Carolinas food banks.

This spring, a new opportunity to support efforts to create stronger families and healthier communities is available through our Spring Match Challenge. Thanks to generous funding from the Mead Family Foundation, all gifts made April 1 through May 31 will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $40,000.
Taking a Bite Out of Hunger One Month at a Time
Giles Shih still remembers the haunting statistic on hunger from 13 years ago that 1 in 5 children in our community goes to bed hungry. For Giles, that was a call to action and it’s what motivated him to make his first donation to Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. He’s been a faithful supporter of the Food Shuttle ever since. Then last October, Giles signed up to be a sustaining monthly donor. With the understanding that such contributions provide reliable support for the Food Shuttle’s efforts to create a hunger free community, Giles became a Cultivator.

Through ongoing, monthly support, Cultivators empower the Food Shuttle to ensure all residents will have access to the healthy food, knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive all year long.
Lutheran Services Carolinas and Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Partner to Help Settle Afghan Refugees in the Triangle Area
In the Triangle area, Lutheran Services Carolinas (LSC) has stepped up to welcome 200 Afghan refugees and is in the process of securing for them homes and other necessities. When the enormity of the issue of providing food for these new members of the community became a reality, Chris McLaren, Outreach Coordinator for Refugee and Immigrant Services at LSC, reached out to Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, and a natural partnership was formed.
