Valerie Hocutt wears a lot of hats as property manager at Creekridge Apartments and Middlesex Manor in Middlesex, NC. When the pandemic hit, Valerie saw her community take on additional struggles, including job loss, health scares, and food shortages. Comeback Fest Wows the Power of Partnership
Durham church partner puts food on the table for more than 500 families each week
Every Tuesday, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle delivers over 4,000 pounds of food to Iglesia Hispana Emanuel for their weekly food distribution. The church community relies on the donation to serve the vast number of families it feeds each week. What began as a small food pantry ten years ago, serving around 60 families, skyrocketed when COVID-19 struck, rapidly growing to 70, 100, 200…500 families.

She turned to an organization long known for their gardening expertise, and for working with neighbors to create sustainable food sources—Inter-Faith Food Shuttle—and together, they’re growing a new community garden in southeast Raleigh.
