Intern Stories: Food Justice, One Bench at a Time
Thanks to a Service Partnership Mini-Grant from the Carolina Center for Public Service at UNC Chapel Hill, FoodCorps member Brett Rapkin-Citrenbaum and I were able to purchase the materials to build a storage bench for the school. The hope is that the storage bench will make it easier for teachers, volunteers, and community members to hold large outdoor classes and cultivate nutritious food

For Board Member Rodney Green, Personal Experience Leads to a World of Difference
Rodney Green wears many hats in his work with Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. As a current member of the Food Shuttle’s Board of Directors, Rodney is one of the organization’s most enthusiastic advocates, sharing, “What we do is absolutely amazing for the community!” Along with his Board duties, he also chairs the Development Committee. In addition to giving of his time as a volunteer, Rodney is also a sustaining monthly donor, recognizing the incredible impact this has on the work of the Food Shuttle.
The Food Shuttle Helps Prepare Families For an Active Storm Season
This summer, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle will ensure families are better prepared to deal with the impact of what could be an active storm season through the distribution of 1,000 Emergency Preparedness Kits. On June 18, volunteers from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC and Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation packed emergency kits that will be distributed alongside meals served by The Spinning Plate food truck this summer.

Nearly one year ago, I wrote my first newsletter to you and thanked you for your warm welcome and your continued commitment to our mission here at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. At that time, we were at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, witnessing the pain and sadness in the aftermath of the events in Minneapolis, where thousands of our neighbors found themselves in a very dark situation. One year ago, I embraced that challenge knowing we had your continued support, and today, I continue to be grateful.
Elvin's Food Shuttle Journey: Giving Back BIG to His Community
Elvin Birth, who is 95 years old, left Murphey School three years ago and today lives with his daughter, Terri, in Timberlake. He never forgot the feeling of support he received from those monthly deliveries of food and human contact. Elvin wanted a way to give something back, and this month he and Terri paid a visit to the Food Shuttle Farm and made a very generous donation of $65,000.
